Trip to RHS Garden Bridgewater

On Friday 15th July 28 members went by coach to RHS Bridgewater.

As the coach entered the gates I was amazed at the expanse of flat landscape and though the garden is surrounded by woodland there are few mature trees in this very new garden.

We met our guides and in small groups we entered the walled garden. We were given a potted history of the 156 acre garden until Tom Stuart Smith created the overall plan, and work started in 2017, and the doors opened to the public in 2020.

I loved the herbaceous plants, lots of colour and movement as we walked through, and joy of joys most of the plants were named.

There were plenty of seats, lots of places serving refreshments and a big garden centre and shop to browse in too.

The weather was quite cool and blowy but a really good day was enjoyed by all.

Bridgewater is a garden to go back to.
