BRHS Annual Show 2025
/On Saturday 23rd August 2025, Burton & Rossett Horticultural Society held our 75th Annual Show at Darland High School in Rossett. We had a total of 376 exhibits from 74 exhibitors which the Show Secretary was extremely pleased about. We had an amazing display and we were very impressed with the flowers and vegetable, amazing due to the difficult growing conditions this summer.
Thank you to Mrs Joan Bellis for presenting the trophies this year. Here are some of our trophy winners for 2025.
The Shepherd Challenge Cup for exhibitor gaining highest points in vegetable section won by Don Owens. John Edwards won the Cam-yr-Alyn Bowl, highest points in flowers and vegetables, he also won the Banksian Medal, highest aggregate points in flowers and vegetables.
The Nat Maurice-Jones Bowl, exhibitor with the most meritorious exhibit in flowers and vegetable sections was won by Tony Wright for his carrots.
This year Sian Walton took home four trophies including the E.C. Bellis Challenge Cup for highest points in the flower section; the Society Challenge Cup for highest points in cookery section, also the Hilda Walton Memorial Trophy for best exhibit in classes J1-J5. Finally, the Shallcross Rose Bowl for the highest aggregate points in all sections in the show. Excellent!
The President’s Shield was won by Liz Thompson for best exhibit grown from a plant supplied by the society.
Caron Thomas won the Reddrop Challenge Cup for the heaviest marrow.
The most meritorious exhibit the 50th Anniversary Challenge Cup was won by Dave Burrows for his savoury quiche which he was delighted with!
In Floral Art Fiona Morris won the Bernard Walsh Cup for most points, and the Shordley Challenge Cup for the most meritorious exhibit.
In the Craft section Val Overson won The Agnes Salter Cup , class restricted to WI members. The Elsie & Emlyn Jones Memorial Challenge Cup was won by Annie Holdsworth for highest number of points and Sue Williams won the Lady Clements Jones Cup for the most meritorious exhibit with her knitted bag.
In the Junior Section Evie Maurice-Jones won the Llyntro Trophy (aged 7 and under) for highest points, whilst William O’Grady won the Investiture Challenge Cup (aged 8 to 11) for highest points. The Eric Randles Memorial Cup for best exhibit in Junior section was won by Gruffud Youens for his miniature garden. Well done to all the juniors for their creative makes.

Our wonderful BRHS committee, Judges, Stewards and volunteers for all their help over the last few months and on Show Day, without their help we would not be able to put on our Annual Show.
